Inspired Design 12×12 Layout

Hey everyone. Recently my youngest daughter finished her 4 year Bachelor of Design degree and at the end of this fourth year the students have an exhibition and this photo was taken of us from the opening night.

Products used

  • Cut to You Frames svg file
  • Kaisercraft Crafternoon patterned paper, ephemera, stickers, stamp set, glass circle curios.
  • American Crafts thickers Choose Happy
  • Liquitex Gloss Gel and Irridescent mediums mixed together

Background

Once I had decided the background paper I spread some irridescent gel over the background with a spatula and left it to dry. I’m not very patient so sped this up a bit with a heat gun. It doesn’t show up too well in the photos but gives the background a lovely subtle shimmer. The photo below gives an idea of what this looks like.

Once the background was dry I then stamped three of the hearts from the matching Crafternoon stamp set in black ink.

I imported the svg cut file into my Brother Scan n cut and cut it out on thick white cardstock (300gsm).

I backed the cut file with Crafternoon patterned paper. While the background was drying I played around with the placement of the other items I wanted to add on top of the cut file. I rotated the cut file so that it suited the photo layout better. This gave a bit more room on the right so that when I added the ephemera I wasn’t covering up too much of my hubby. The bottom left of the photo didn’t have anything interesting to show so was the perfect spot to add the title.

Title

I had the perfect thickers to go with this layout. The Choose Happy thickers had all the colours I was using so was the perfect compliment.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
