Inspired by…

New card I was going to enter into the current Inspired by challenge…but once again I missed the cut off date! Oh well here it is anyway.

Started off with a completely different design idea but couldn’t get it to work how I wanted so decided to go literal with the theme and sketch. I used the Hero Arts Monthly Kit April 2018. Love how it all turned out.

Images

  • Stamped cacti onto Hammermill cardstock with Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Colour with Copics – YG11, YG13, YG25, G21, G24, YG67,G12, G14, G16, V05, RV66, R20, R22, R24
  • Diecut with matching dies

Background

  • Ink blended Distress Oxide Inks (Twisted Citreon, Bundled Sage and Mowed Lawn) over Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock.
  • Apply three strips of double sided tape over cardstock. Remove one strip of release tape and sprinkle glitter over. Burnish with your finger or a bone folder. Tap off excess glitter.
  • Repeat the application of glitter using different shades of green.

Sentiment

  • Stamp the banner and sentiment onto cardstock.
  • Diecut with matching die.
  • As I used a non copic friendly ink I decided to shade the banner with Chameleon pencils but any coloured pencil will do.

Finishing

  • As I wanted to make a paper bag for the cactus (as in the photograph inspiration) I used the tissue that came with the kit. Pretty cute aye!
  • Using ATG adhere background to card base.
  • Adhere the bag and cactus with the sentiment last.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

Retro Girl

Such a fun theme at the current Time Out Challenges – Retro with the optional twist of One Layer. My Retro take on this challenge was incorporating Hippie and Flower Power…I had the perfect digistamp from Lily of the ValleyThoroughly Modern Misses June.

Images

  • Printed digistamp onto Hammermill cardstock with inkjet printer. This is safe for colouring with alcohol markers.
  • Colour with Copics – B23, B18, B26, R02, R05, R27, Y11, Y32, Y26, E0000, E00, E02, BV00, N0, N2, N4, C1.

Background

  • Cut out mask of girl (See ‘Tip’ below).
  • Die cut background mask out of copy paper (thin) using Penny Black Antique Frames dies.
  • Place masks over printed image (see image ‘Masks‘ below).
  • Stamp My Favorite Things Bundles of Blossoms background stamp over masks.
  • I then dry embossed using the same Antique Frames die.

Tip for creating mask of digistamp: I scanned image with my Brother Scan n Cut DX1200 and cut out of post it label tape. Otherwise, print out image again on copy paper and hand cut.

Masks

Sentiment

  • I had the perfect sentiment from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit March 2018. The shape fitted the image perfectly.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Versafine Claire Nocturne.

Finishing

  • I wanted to spotlight the image so coloured around the outline with Copic Marker ‘C1’.
  • Using ATG adhere background to card base.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

Looking Sharp

Fun birthday card using Gerda Steiner Bats stamp set. The images are copic coloured. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts monthly kit and I thought it suited the vampire theme.

The background is ink blended with Ranger Distress Oxide Inks on Bristol cardstock. Super easy to blend on that type of cardstock.

The silhouette bats were stamped in Versafine Clair ink in Nocturne and embossed with clear embossing powder. I realised I had stamped one of the bats upside down so added flight lines to show it flying down from the top.

Thanks for stopping by.

What’s new?

Hey Ho…welcome back. A fun card using Hero ArtsWoodland Creatures‘  and ‘Little Florals‘ (both older stamp sets).

20180416_194532.jpg

This was started as a one layer card with some ink blending for the background and a small bit of masking to stamp the flowers. The flowers were stamped with Memento Blue ink as I wanted to colour them with copics. I added Couture Creations Liquid Drops 3d Pearls to the centres of the flowers but decided I wanted a bit more interest so I sprinkled glitter over the top while it was still wet.

I had previously stamped and coloured all the images from the stamp set but didn’t use them all. I adhered them in layers, some added directly to the background and others layered with foam adhesive to give some dimension. Finally, added some extra elements – the butterfly trail and the dots for the ground.

Hope you like the outcome.

You just gotta believe…

Long time no blog…I believe it’s time to publish another post.

I am starting to get into the swing of Xmas cards now and this one turned out great for me. I used the Mama Elephant ‘Me and My Yeti’ and ‘Yeti Sentiments’ stamp sets as well as Hero Arts ‘Winter Scene’ for the background trees and Impression Obsession Christmas Tree dies for the foreground.  Those trees were diecut out of Resene Paints paint chips.

Birthday Wishes-1

The background is simply ink blended with Ranger Distress Oxide inks in Cracked Pistachio and Broken China and then stamped trees with three green oxide inks (Lucky Clover, Twisted Ciron and Peeled Paint).

Birthday Wishes-1-2

A new product I tried today was Liquitex Glass Beads Texture Gel.  Its a transparent gel that you can also colour with paint, mixed with other mediums or paint directly over the top to achieve different looks.  I just used it straight out of the tub and think it gives an icy look rather than an opaque white for snow.  The hills were diecut with My Favorite Things ‘Surf and Turf’ die set.  All the images were simply copic coloured.

Birthday Wishes-1-3

Hope you enjoyed it and have a great day.
