Yay…First Blog Post and a card for Graduation Season

I thought it would be fitting to have my first blog post about graduation as it seems to be graduation season around the world.  Congratulations to everyone graduating.

My daughter graduated last week with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Human Genetics) from Victoria University, Wellington and is currently studying for her Masters of Biomedical Science.  She is working on a research project shared between Victoria University and the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research.  If you look on my “Cards for Sale” page you will see that all proceeds from the sale of cards from this blog will be donated to the Malaghan Institute.

There is also a link on that page that will take you directly to the Institute’s website if you wish to learn more about research they are undertaking.

Now, onto the card…or should I say ‘Card in a Box‘.  The beauty of these box cards is that they fold flat for posting in an envelope.  I had recently purchased the Mama Elephant stamp set ‘Page Huggers’ and it is themed for graduations so was perfect for this card.  I also had an older stamp set from Avery Elle ‘Hats Off’ which has a variety of waving hands plus some other graduation caps.

All the images are stamped on X-press It Blending card with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with copic markers and then either die cut or hand cut.

The ‘YAY’ was die cut with My Favorite Things Little Letters from glitter washi tape adhered onto card. ‘Congrats’ is the Lawn Fawn Scripty Congrats die which I double embossed with silver embossing powder to give it extra dimension.  I used the Versamarker Watermark Pen rather than a stamp pad for this.

The graduation caps, blue books and arrow are adhered to transparency strips to make them look like they are floating.

It took a while to put it all together but I am so happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
